[ALCONIX Sustainability Initiatives] Clean-up Activities at Sanno Park Tower

We, ALCONIX Group conduct business based on our corporate philosophy of "creating new value and contributing to the development of society through the transaction of non-ferrous metals."
The Group is working together to proactively make action for both solving social issues and sustainably increasing corporate value.
We will introduce our sustainability activities on “ALCONIX BluePrint”.
The first installment will introduce our trash collection activities around Sanno Park Tower, where our Tokyo Headquarters is located, as part of our corporate citizenship activities.
Cleaning activities carried out by the Group as a whole
We regularly participates in trash-picking activities around Sanno Park Tower.
At Sanno Park Tower, the building management company holds regular litter-picking events, which ALCONIX actively takes part in together with other tenants.
In June 2024, in collaboration with the estate-management operator, we, ALCONIX, took the lead in carrying out cleanup activities together with our group companies which share our Tokyo Headquarters (ALCONIX-MITAKA, HEIWA KINZOKU and ADVANCED MATERIAL JAPAN).
Through picking up trash, we are contributing to the realization of a sustainable society and providing an opportunity for communication across departmental and corporate boundaries within the Group.
This time, we will introduce some comments from those who participated in this cleanup activity.
Participants’ comments
We asked two participants, Mr. H from ALCONIX and Mr. K from ADVANCED MATERIAL JAPAN, about their impressions of the event.
Q1 What made you decide to participate?
Mr. H:I've been interested in social contribution activities since I was a student, but once I started working, it was difficult to find time and I couldn’t get involved.
This time, the event was held with the schedule set beforehand so that everyone could gather together more easily, which made it easy for me to participate, so I decided to take part.
Mr. K:I had never participated in such a community activity as a cleanup drive, so I thought this would be a good opportunity for my first participation. Besides, because I had just taken on my new post, I wanted to quickly build strong relationships with the group companies.
Q2 How do you feel the event?
Mr. H:Its atmosphere was conducive to communication among participants, and I was able to converse casually with people who I don't usually come into contact with in my daily work.
Mr. K:We naturally formed groups of 3 to 4 people and cleaned up the area around the building. Along the way we had the opportunity to interact with other groups and take photos, making it a fun activity.
Q3. Not only those from ALCONIX but also those from the group companies also participated. Was there any interaction between them?
Mr. H:By coincidence, someone from a group company who I will be working with on my next project was there, so I was able to say hello. In my opinion, having an opportunity to talk with people about things other than work can make work go more smoothly.
Mr. K:There were no company barriers there, and everyone was friendly and welcomed me into their team. I feel that deepening friendships through conversations unrelated to work also facilitates smoother communication at work. So I think It was a good opportunity.
Q4.Finally, please tell us your impressions of participating.
Mr. H:Surprisingly, there wasn't much trash in places where it would be easy for people to see. However, there remained some trash gathering in a hard-to-see place, and I hadn't noticed it until then.
By participating in this activity, in addition to picking up trash, I was able to get to know people from other departments and group companies, so I would like to take part again in other community activities that can be done briefly. I also hope that more people will participate.
Mr. K:The office building usually looks clean, but I get the impression that there's a surprising amount of trash there. There are many restaurants around Tameike-sanno district, but it was unfortunate to see trash of lunch boxes from convenience stores scattered around. I was especially concerned about a fire when I found cigarette litter in the shrubbery.
I hope cigarette litter will be eliminated because it is dangerous. I think it's wonderful that the group can come together not only for just pursuing profits but also for social engagements like this.
ALCONIX Group will continue to actively host and participate in such activities in the future.
